A Gurdwara committee can be found in most Gurdwaras around the world. Each member of the committee has their own distinct role in making the Gurdwara functional on a daily basis and contribute towards the running of it. The committee can exist of both men and women and usually have a president who oversees much of the day-to-day operations. The committee consists of 21 members from the local community and an election takes place every two years where the community votes in members independently. There are also sub-committees for certain functions of the Gurdwara, such as the Langar, Dharmik and more.
