The founder of the faith, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, was born in Talwandi village in India, a country which is now known as Pakistan following partition. He was the first of ten Gurus, or spiritual leaders, that led a movement against the injustices faced in a country where religious segregation, caste and gender discrimination were rife. Guru Nanak possessed spiritual and virtuous qualities from childhood. His kindness, compassion and rebelion against rituals and practices he didn't believe in gained momentum amongst his following. He made a spiritual revolution of faith & meditation. Ridding many schools of thought & faiths of empty rituals assisting spiritual aspirants to self-realisation & liberation. Guru Jee conducted many tours of preaching to achieve this. They also founded the Sikh faith in which they enshrined a straightforward simple spiritual path.
The Gurdwara celebrates His physical birth in November each year with special divaans and langar all day. All are invited and welcome to join us on this auspicious occassion.
